Day by day Audio and Video on Internet is increasing. Analysts are saying that the future of internet is in Video. Then what is the future of Text in the Online Medium?

Here is an interview with Chris Nodder, a user experience specialist for the nielsen Norman Group in which he answers questions posed by Guillermo E. Franco [Content manager of the new media unit of Casa Editorial El Tiempo and]. The Interview is in Pointer online. Ohmynews increasing its Citizen Journalists to one Lakh

April 12, 2007, the Korean Citizen Journalist site is planning to increase the number of citizen Journalists to one Lakh. Currently it has got 43,000 Citizen Journalists.

Last year, Ohmynews traded 13% of its shares for $11m from Tokyo-based firm Softbank. That money will fund the upgrade, as well as the creation of a Japanese version of the site.

“I want the OhmyNews model to go around the world, so the professional-centered journalism system becomes an interactive system between professional and citizen journalists,” said founder Oh Yeon Ho. More on San Francisco Chronicle.

Delhi slum children launch a community Newspaper

Children from Haiderpur and Lal Quan – two slums of  Delhi – have taken initiative to launch their own media and raise issues of local concern.

The idea is influencing the decision makers for their well being. Gandhi Smriti Darshan trained children in basic Journalsm. Haiderpur Darpan, is a wall newspaper under the Editorship of Rajeshwari a class XII student. Read the complete story in Hindustan Times

NDTV-Sameer Nair’s first channel to go on air by year-end

NEW DELHI, April 10:  The NDTV  Group announced its foray into the general entertainment space at a press meet in the Capital on Monday. A new company, called NDTV Imagine, will roll out its first general entertainment channel by the end of the year. Headed by Sameer Nair, former CEO of STAR India, NDTV Imagine is part of NDTV Networks Plc.

This general entertainment channel (GEC), which is still to be named, will be followed by two more channels in the entertainment space. The second channel will be a movie channel. The third one will also be a GEC, but will cater to a more specific audience within the GEC space, and will be the second GEC in the NDTV Imagine bouquet, just as STAR India has STAR One as a second GEC, and Sony Entertainment Network has SAB TV.


NDTV’s UK arm could list overseas

NEW DELHI, APR 9:  NDTV Networks Plc, the UK-registered new ventures arm of news broadcaster NDTV, is likely to make an initial public offering (IPO) on an overseas bourse—possibly in the US or the UK—by 2010. NDTV Networks spearheads new initiatives in areas like general entertainment and lifestyle.

The Prannoy Roy-led broadcaster, preparing to launch three general entertainment channels (the first slated for September), has wrapped up funding for NDTV Networks, which has five subsidiaries: NDTV Imagine Ltd, NDTV Lifestyle Ltd, NDTV Convergence Ltd, NDTV Labs Ltd and 50% in NGEN Media Services Pvt Ltd.


Doordarshan to start VSAT nodes in 70 locations

Doordarsan is introducing its own VSAT network for news gathering. It will connect 70 locations.

BSNL to offer voice, cable TV, broadband on one line

 Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will offer voice, cable TV and Internet services on a single line, the Triple Play, by the later half of this year. The move will not only boost the BSNL’s revenues but also enable it to match private operators in providing quality offerings.

The operator hopes to generate a new revenue source, as the growth of its fixed-line revenues remain stagnant. The BSNL plans multi-service broadband access network for Triple Play services.
